Simplifying UK Tax Concepts for ESL Accounting Students through Educational Videos

Activity: SupervisionCompleted SURF Project

Description

This project aims to enhance accounting students' comprehension of complex UK tax concepts and rules by developing a series of educational videos. UK tax legislation comprises a number of intricate subjects such as income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and VAT, always challenging for business students especially those who use English as second language. By explaining these concepts and rules into simplified and visually engaging content, the project seeks to facilitate better understanding and improve students’ learning experience. This initiative also involves ESL (English-as-Second-Language) students in the content creation process, ensuring that the materials are technically and culturally appropriate. The research outcomes will be good resources contributing to the wide educational community, specifically tailored to effectively teaching the complex subjects to non-native English speakers.
