MIMO ANTENNA DESIGN FOR MMWAVE 5G APPLICATIONS

Description

The project investigates and designs a highly integrated mobile phone antenna for millimeterwave 5G communication, which consists of a slot-type antenna and folded loop-type antenna. After the rational parametric study, the proposed highly integrated type antenna with its 4-elements linear array (15.15mm x 26.39mm) is simulated in CST. It can achieve 3 GHz bandwidth (-6 dB S11 definition) to cover the whole n257 band (27.5 GHz-29.5 GHz) and n260 band (37 GHz-40 GHz) of 3GPP specification in 5G. The corresponding detailed parametric study with analysis, S parameters for the designed models, radiation patterns at 28 GHz and 38 GHz, directivities, and surface currents distribution are given with discussion. Although the directivities of the folded loop-type antenna part are not as good as expected, it is still suitable for 5G communication applications.
