Investigating the Cultural Dimensions of the Smart City: A Case Study of the North Sydney Smart City Strategy 2019-2022

Activity: SupervisionExternal examiner for PhD thesis

Description

The dissertation addresses a gap in the growing body of research on smart cities—the integration of cultural dimensions into the planning, development, and implementation of smart city strategies. As the smart city concept has evolved, much of the early scholarship has focused on the technological and infrastructural aspects, often sidelining social, cultural, and contextual considerations. Guanlin
addresses this gap by investigating how smart city initiatives influence cultural elements,
explicitly focusing on North Sydney's smart city strategy.
