Description

TWO LAKES is an upcoming publication and a statement out of the joint project THE CULTURE OF WATER between Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT) from 2018 to 2023. The project intended to reflect upon the architecture, forms of living and landscape conditions around Lake Lucerne in Switzerland and Lake Biwa in Japan. Architectural design was used as a creative method of research to develop plausible visions of contemporary architecture with, on and next to the water and explore the interactions between human and nature. SUN Mulan will introduce the collaborative educational experiment and emphasis the exchange between two different cultural spheres as a re-recognition of our existence - the interdependence of architecture, life and environment - that is hidden and invisible to local eyes. This lecture might be thought-provoking in terms of how the planet, architecture and humanity can be in the future, especially in the future of change and conflict.
