Anthropogenic activities and industrial development are introducing increasing levels of emerging contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, synthetic dyes, and pesticides, into the environment. This ongoing global issue, exacerbated by rising populations and food demands, poses significant public health concerns such as endocrine disruption. Conventional wastewater treatment methods are unable to effectively remove these recalcitrant micropollutants. This project seeks to address this challenge, focusing on the degradation of pesticides in wastewater through a newly developed advanced oxidation process by generating highly reactive species.
