Algorithmic art, or generative art, is the technique used to create artwork using algorithms and have been proposed for the design and generation of recreation arts, images, and musics for decades.
An example of these is string art. It aims to create an abstraction of a given image, and focuses on expressiveness rather than realism (Demoussel, Larboulette, and Dattatreya, 2022). Traditionally, artists craft such images manually through a tedious design process and can take up to numerous hours or even days to complete the fabrication process. Though continuous research, some progress has been made to improve the design and fabrication process. However, there is still a big gap to fill.
In this regard, the aim of this project is to develop and deploy algorithms so that, given an image, a string art work can be produced automatically.
